Below is a photocopy of Lou Jacobin's Social Security application. Note the name spelling of his mother, Cathrine McHale. I believe that a record for her exists in the 1871 Canadian census (click here for link).

Louis was born September 26, 1889 and died February 4, 1978. I find where he
lived in Bellingham and came to Concrete and Hamilton on business. He in 1920
was in Hamilton helping to compile the World War I Roll of Honor and
"sincerely hopes that nobody has been left out". On December 27, 1923
he was employed by the Puyallup Tribune and came to spend Christmas with family
members in the Upper Skagit area. In later years he worked for a newspaper in
Los Angeles. He also compiled a book on Tour Guides of Alaska. I am assuming his
reason for returning to Alaska every year was to guide these tours or maybe
explore new tour routes.
