(From Lois Theodoratus, loistheo@gmail.com)
Peter Jacobin was born in Italy in 1841 and came to America early in life. He married Cathrine McHale who was born in 1862. It appears like they may have married about 1878 in Sparta, Il. They came to Washington in 1888 and to Hamilton in 1889 after the following children were born.  In the 1909 Business Directory Peter Jacobin owned and operated the Yellowstone Bar and Restaurant and the movie theater.

Peter Jacobin's Autobiography
(Note:  the following links are to "jpg" images of the actual diary written around 1910 by Peter.  The images are large -- 350KB-425KB each -- and will take patience for downloading each one.  The reason for the large size is that both deterioration over time as well as Peter's handwriting makes for difficulty in readability.  There are a total of 26 individual images (two "intro" pages written by Frank Jacobin and 24 diary pages).  Unfortunately two of the most crucial pages are missing.  I presume that they contained information relating to Cathrine McHale who divorced him later and the pages were subsequently "deleted".  It would be most helpful if one were to download and print the page, then transcribe it and e-mail me:  joe@susieword.com .  In turn, I will place the text for each page above the image as it is received, allowing for future revisions.  Thank you for your help.)

NOTE (March 3, 2000):
Some of the pages have now been transcribed by Lois Theodoratus, loistheo@gmail.com -- thank you, Lois.  Each page will have the "original" transcription but a master compilation will be kept at the following link, edited for both spelling and some "obvious" grammatical errors:  Transcribed Autobiography.  Be sure to check the bottom of each page for recent transcriptions.

NOTE (May 25, 2000):
The entire text has been transcribed by Carolyne Reeves, carolyne-r@webtv.net -- thank you, Carolyne.  This new resource is complete but has yet to be edited for spelling and other grammatical errors:  Transcribed Autobiography.
